Opening: Wednesday September 12, 6pm–8pm
Inca Roads Studio
The front gallery of Seventh will exist as a hybrid of art, music, and office for Inca Roads Studio, where the space will open up with intent of collaboration between different people holding different artistic and creative backgrounds. Inca Roads is an organization that acts as a social club to combine and run different arts and music events throughout Melbourne and its surrounds, with its broader mission to facilitate opportunities for emerging Australian artists and musicians. As co-president of Inca Roads and artist myself, I will work in the Seventh space for the allotted three weeks, and open myself up for collaboration with others. Naming the gallery Inca Roads Studio, means that the space acts as a work in progress, constantly developing and evolving, with no resolved, complete image in mind, but a hub of artistic contemplation and collaboration between myself and my peers. Ensuring a variety of people know about this opportunity, I will also run different events which utilize the gallery space; three band nights will run through the course of the show as well as an audio/visual disco. Besides the assorted collaborations between emerging artists and musicians in Melbourne, I also want to create a personal and artistic connection between the conventions of visual art and music, and the Inca Roads Studios’ intent is to blur some of the distinctions between the two art forms to hybridize an end goal.
If you have an idea or project that could be realised via the Inca Roads Studio, contact Andre in the gallery, on 0432555612 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
