Opening: Wednesday November 14, 6pm–8pm
Natalie Mather is a contemporary abstract painter who makes work revolving around the idea of impact. She investigates impact in terms of literal collisions, grand apocalyptic blasts and crashes in space, as well as impact in terms of the formal elements of art-making and presentation – between colour, line and space. Mather draws from a variety of sources such as geological formations, folded paper sculptures and Soviet science fiction films. In her Seventh Gallery solo project “COLLIDE-O’, Mather is toying with her traditional practice to engage with ideas about the object, space and sound.
