SEVENTH is now taking applications for group, solo and curated projects as well as events and performances for our August – December 2017 program. We encourage both emerging and established practitioners to apply!
Successful applicants will be provided with a unique platform for experimentation that gives exposure to diverse and dynamic art practices developing locally, interstate and internationally. They will be given the opportunity to not only execute an exhibition in our gallery spaces, but also benefit from the guidance of our Board and Gallery Manager in developing their professional artistic career.
Exhibitions run over a 3 week period coinciding with Gallery opening hours. An Exhibition Liaison will aid in the conceptual and logistical elements of your show. The Gallery Manager and the gallery assistants oversee PR and media elements of your exhibition.
The Exhibition prices for 2017 are as follows:
Gallery One: $950, Gallery Two: $750, 7UP: $950
Project Space: $350, Night Screen $250
SEVENTH Gallery is seeking submissions for our Emerging Writers Program. The SEVENTH Emerging Writers Program is intended as a series of collaborations between artists and writers. Writers will be paired with an artist exhibiting in the 2017 program and will produce works engaging with a specific exhibition. Writing will be presented as catalogue material within the gallery and on our digital archive alongside visual documentation of the art, performances and events.
Through this writing program, SEVENTH hopes to foster collaborative relationships between artists and writers, and provide a platform for both to engage new audiences. Aiming to cultivate ongoing critical discourse, we encourage participants to meet with artists regarding their practice and upcoming exhibition. The writer’s work is intended to enhance the experience and understanding of the exhibition, providing an additional perspective or insight.
The resulting work may take the form of a catalogue essay, interview or piece of creative writing, and will reflect the intentions of both the artist and the work exhibited. We encourage experimentation in writing as well as art practice; experimentation can emerge not only in format, but also in the writing and the ideas that it provokes.
Participants will receive critical feedback and editorial assistance in the development of their pieces. The essay will be available in the gallery in printed form, in a standard format, for the duration of the exhibition, and available on the website in our archive and a dedicated writers program page.
