Riding Bicycles uses the analogy of gym junkies lying about the use of performance-enhancing steroids (Instead proclaiming that they were riding bicycles) as a building block for the exploration of the failure to realise the ideal form within contemporary art. The artists involved will consider these ideas using sport and recreation as starting points, navigating content that veers from the historical (The tale of boxer Reggie Strickland) to the more esoteric (A squash game with a brother or strengthening stretches for a hamstring) in considering whether the sometimes absurd amount of failure and pain that occurs along the way is worth the eventual success that could unfold.
