A Mobile Public Square
In the initial design for Melbourne city, they did not want to include public squares as it would encourage democracy. Jacqui Gordon responds to this idea through creating a small, wooden platform on wheels as a means to intentionally encourage democracy. The function of this public space is determined by members of the public who participate in group sessions on the square at various Melbourne locations. A Mobile Public Square examines how democracy exists in public spaces in Australia and the various powers at play.
