23nd July – 7th August
Head case is an exhibition that has Morph (alter ego of try hard artist Cathyann Coady) engrossed in a moment of self-contemplation in order to explore thenature and absurdity of the selfie phenomenon.
I look bloody fantastic…
If you send enough images of yourself to enough people you might start to
infiltrate their brains like an insidious virus that permeates through a vexatious haze of your own bullshit and inevitably mutates into an organic version of your reabsorbed reality leaving all of us gob-smacked and dribbling uncontrollably in the wake of your charisma.
It’s the question of the chicken or the egg?
Is the taker of the selfie the nut job or is the recipient being targeted to become one… (The accompanying soundtrack is Quentin Dupieux Mr Oizo – Vous etes des animaux. The repetition of the statement “you are an animal” metaphorically endorses Morph’s desire for personal verification)
