Intense Intents, In tents
Louise Meuwissen & Lotte Schwerdtfeger
Beginning as a collaborative project to create a deluxe cubby house of their childhood dreams, Louise Meuwissen and Lotte Schwerdtfeger’s Intense Intents, In tents is a structure to facilitate a journey through a fabricated pictorial spacetime. Dwelling on the defining human trait of recognising and decoding complex patterns in order to understand our natural world, Meuwissen and Schwerdtfeger have created a fantasy of organic shapes and patterns in a chaotic black hole for the viewer to explore and decipher.
Their combination of a wide variety of textile and craft techniques is reflective of their diversity of inspirations from folk traditions of the tent and textiles. This has culminated not only as a shelter but as a visual device for storytelling, in their first collaborative exhibition.
