Reflexive and participatory engagement in the consumption and generation of material culture, artists contort the systemic value of objects. Information flows and freezes—finding feedback loops between states of consumption and creation.
Ideas of living and luxury: desires to buy, life practices to adopt. Inhabiting a saturated material culture, our sensitivity to commercialism liquefies into media-narrated myth. We see a mésalliance of simulated ideals and authentic experience emerge.
Art objects function as commodities—in a land ‘open for business’, everything is acquirable. Aestheticized commentaries are primed for cooption into a game of engagement through consumption. Thirsty for static beauty, an ownership of the natural world is embodied in advertisements of luxury elixirs. Moments peak at an unreal and ungraspable beauty.
