Nanou’s painting merges elements from the natural environment and the urban landscape. Through a visual aesthetic of instantaneity, her work implies expressive brush marks from a combination of Asian influences and Street Art. Mineral pigments and acrylic medium are used to create a biomorphic composition of evolving space.
Resilience reveals coexistence between the isolation and connection derived from the artist’s experience of migration, and the often unspoken pain of cultural dislocation. Through an expanded painting practice that seeks to express this intimate experience, the viewer is embraced within the work’s dynamic depth and movement.
