What has no fingers but many rings?
Timothy P. Kerr
In my creative practice humour is used to investigate the intersection of the everyday and absurdity. The exhibition title, What has no fingers but many rings? consists of both found objects and hand-painted signage, and stems from my interest in humour, particularly “Dad” jokes and concrete comedy. Situational irony and anthropomorphism are used to create the obscure notion that the two plants are talking to each other, and attempting to arrange a movie date. Through an application of concrete comedy the work examines the underlying complexities of humour and plant communication systems. The work makes both a joke and presents scientific evidence.
