You won’t even be sure whether the storm is really over. But one thing is certain. When you come out of the storm, you won’t be the same person who walked in. That is what this sandstorm is all about.” – Haruki Murakami. After the Sand Storm celebrates the metamorphosis of the self as a stronger being through survival and overcoming hardship. Inspired by the metaphoric usage of a sand storm in Haruki Murakami’s novel “Kafka on the Shore”, this exhibition will showcase the personal narratives of six local and international artists, exploring the transformative power of intellectual, spiritual, and physical personal growth. Unique self-reflections and understandings of the fluidity of human and environmental relationships with one’s identity are presented in a variety of artistic forms, including performance, sculpture, photography, and video.
