‘Still Waiting’ is a group exhibition that explores the relationship between the artists and their materials while navigating creative spaces as an artist with a disability.  The exhibiting artists; Dora DeAngelis, Robyn Richards, Anna Russ, Sue Morter and Nadia Cernizza, work within the disciplines of sculpture, collage, assemblage and mixed media. Each artist's practice is an intricate and involved investigation into the materials they use.

The artists work within the Araluen studios, a non-for-profit NDIS provider that supports adults with disabilities, located in the Northeastern suburbs of Melbourne. Within these studios the artists' work to expand and develop their individual practices through a variety of disciplines. The exhibiting artists have each developed a strong connection to the materials they use, with some of these relationships evolving over decades. Through this exploration, this exhibition also aims to assert the artist’s positions within the arts spaces they occupy.

‘Still Waiting’ references the barriers that exist as an artist with a disability working with an experimental approach to non-traditional art materials and processes.  The artists are waiting for more inclusive opportunities to showcase their integral and longstanding dedication to their practice and the materials they love. This new selection of artwork is an opportunity to show work in a space that supports experimentation and exploration. ‘Still Waiting’ reflects the artists wait for acknowledgement and access over the course of their long art careers.
